Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are the two “main contenders” to snap up Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, according to The Independent.
The Nigerian international is expected to leave Italy at the end of the season when his €130m (£111m) release clause can be activated, with Arsenal, Chelsea and Real Madrid having also been linked.
However, United fans on X are very sceptical about the club’s chances of signing the forward, considering how much it will cost to snap him up:

What do we need Osimhen for when we’ve got Hojlund? We don’t need him please. There are other areas that need serious attention for now

United have already spent a sizeable sum on a new No.9
The Red Devils paid £72m to bring in Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta last summer and, while he has had his injury problems, he looks more than capable of leading the line for Erik ten Hag‘s side.
If INEOS decided to recruit Osimhen, it would not only waste funds on a position that doesn’t need that much strengthening, it would also hinder Hojlund’s development.
A replacement for Martial is needed
There is no one disputing the fact that Hojlund needs more help up front, especially with Anthony Martial expected to leave on a free transfer when his contract expires in June.
However, paying a club record fee for his replacement would not be a sensible move. There are plenty of talented young strikers in the £30m to £50m price range, such as RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko or Bologna’s Joshua Zirkee, who could be signed instead.
