Sky Journalist Reveals Outcome Of Timo Werner Meeting With United Among “Several Teams” Circling

Timo Werner “does not plan” to leave RB Leipzig in January despite interest from Manchester United, according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg.

The journalist says that the Red Devils are one of “several teams from England” who have made enquiries about the former Chelsea striker’s availability but, after a meeting with his current club, it has been decided that he can stay:

As Plettenberg points out, though, Leipzig have left the door open for Werner to go if he decides that he “wants to leave” next month.

The 27-year-old has struggled for game time this season, having made just two league starts, and his situation is not being helped by the fact that he is currently sidelined with an adductor injury.

Werner’s inclusion in Germany’s squad for next summer’s European Championships could be put in jeopardy if he continues to be overlooked at club level so United may still feel that they have a chance of securing the forward’s signature.

Which other English clubs could rival United for Werner?

While Plettenberg doesn’t mention any Premier League club by name, other than United, it is likely that the other “teams” he references are West Ham, Fulham and Crystal Palace.

All three clubs have been linked with Werner in recent weeks but, for the time being, it appears that the German won’t be returning to England. Circumstances can, of course, change so we shall see how this transfer story develops over the coming days and weeks.
