United Have Flight ‘Booked’ As They Close In On 7th Summer Signing

Manchester United have “booked” a private jet in anticipation of the arrival of Sofyan Amrabat, according to the Manchester Evening News.

The local newspaper claims the flight is set to land at 12:52 pm BST but that could be pushed back if negotiations with Fiorentina don’t go as planned.

United have been keen on signing Amrabat all summer but they have had to wait until deadline day after struggling to free up the funds for the deal.

The sale of Dean Henderson to Crystal Palace for a fee that could rise to £20m is likely to have helped get the ball rolling with the Amrabat transfer.

At the time of writing, an agreement has not been reached but negotiations are expected to accelerate in the coming hours.

How much could Amrabat cost?

Up until now, Fiorentina have been holding for around €30m (£26m) but there have been reports that the Viola would be willing to loan out the Moroccan international, as long as there is an obligation to buy at the end of the season.

Other clubs, such as Fulham, are also believed to be interested in Amrabat but the player has made a move to Old Trafford his top priority.

He could be United’s seventh signing of the summer

It was announced this morning that Altay Bayindir has joined the Red Devils from Fenerbahce for £4.3m. The Turkish international is the club’s fifth addition of the summer transfer window, with the likes of Mason Mount, Andre Onana, Jonny Evans and Rasmus Hojlund having already arrived. Sergio Reguilon is expected to be the sixth when his loan switch from Tottenham is made official.

Amrabat will probably be manager Erik ten Hag’s final recruit if they can get the deal over the line by tonight’s deadline. It was hoped that an additional striker could be brought in but that now seems unlikely.
