Manchester United “have made enquiries about” Galatasaray right-back Sacha Boey, according to RMC Sport reporter Fabrice Hawkins.

The usually reliable journalist claims that talks between the 23-year-old and his current club over a contract extension have reached an impasse, which may have prompted the Red Devils to make contact about a potential transfer:

Boey has spent the last two years with Galatasaray, having turned down a move to Celtic in order to secure his move to Turkey.

Things have been going very well for both the player and his club so far this season. They have won 10 of their first 11 league games, while they have also impressed in the Champions League.

United fans would have seen Boey in action as he played the full 90 minutes in Galatasaray’s 3-2 win at Old Trafford last month.

Why are United interested in signing Boey?

Manager Erik ten Hag already has two right-backs in Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. However, there have been question marks raised about Dalot’s form.

In addition, Boey is also capable of playing as a left-back, so he could provide cover for Luke Shaw when Sergio Reguilon’s loan spell comes to an end.

Are other clubs interested in signing the fullback?

Arsenal have been regularly linked with the Frenchman over the past 6 to 12 months, although the rumours have not been from reliable sources.

With Hawkins’ connections in France, you would suspect United’s interest in Boey is genuine but we shall have to wait and see whether they make a formal offer in January.
