‘Admirers’ – Report Claims United Have Added France Youth International To 4 Player Shortlist Of Targets

Manchester United are “admirers” of Galatasaray fullback Sacha Boey, according to ESPN.

The former France Under 20 international is said to have impressed the Red Devils when he faced them in the Champions League group stages this season.

Boey has been regularly linked with Arsenal over the past 18 months, but it appears he could well be a target for Erik ten Hag’s side as they look to reshape their defence.

It’s unlikely that a bid will be lodged this month, with ESPN reporting that the planned overhaul of the backline is set to take place at the end of the campaign.

Who are the other defenders that United are interested in signing?

It is believed that Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite and Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo could be brought in to strengthen the centre of defence. However, there will be a lot of competition for the latter with recent reports claiming that Liverpool, Tottenham, Newcastle and AC Milan are all weighing up bids.

Matthijs de Ligt is another name that could be considered, although there are doubts over whether Bayern Munich are prepared to let him leave.

Which United players could be sold?

The future of Raphael Varane remains uncertain, with the Frenchman’s contract expiring at the end of the season. There is an option to extend his stay for another 12 months but it is felt that the club won’t trigger it as they are not prepared to continue paying his £340,000 a week wages.

While the centre-back could yet stay at Old Trafford if he accepts a lower salary, the club are clearly preparing for the eventuality that he will leave.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s contract has been extended but there is a feeling that the fullback will be sold if a satisfactory offer is received for the right-back. There have even been reports that he could be used in a swap deal for Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise.
