REPORT: Ten Hag Is A ‘Huge’ Fan Of £60M PL Winger But United Face Tough Battle With Arsenal To Sign Him

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag and Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta are both “huge fans” of Wolves winger Pedro Neto, according to TEAMtalk.

The website claims that the two teams are battling it out with Saudi Arabian clubs for the Portuguese international’s signature.

Neto has been in excellent form this season, having racked up 1 goal and 7 assists in his first 10 appearances.

The 23-year-old’s pace and guile makes him a major threat to opposition defences, but he does have problems with injuries.

Neto is currently sidelined with a hamstring problem, and there was some concern that it could rule him out of action for quite some time. There is, though, now an expectation that he will be back playing before January, which paves the way for a move when the transfer window reopens.

A potential replacement for Sancho?

With Jadon Sancho having been frozen out by ten Hag, following a public row after the defeat to Arsenal back in September, it looks like United are trying to replace the England international.

Neto is left-footed, but he can play off both wings, so he would be able to take Sancho’s place in the first-team squad. The Portuguese star could arguably be deployed ahead of Antony as well, with the Brazilian having struggled with his form this season.

Arsenal are the favourites to sign Neto

While United are clearly interested in the forward, TEAMtalk claim that the Gunners are the team who are “more likely to make a move” for the player. Whether that information is accurate, though, it is up for debate.

Neto’s asking price is said to be £60m and, with Arsenal struggling with Financial Fair Play, they may not be able to afford him. We shall have to wait and see how this story plays out.
