Romano Hands United And Chelsea Big Transfer Boost As He Confirms Target’s Release Clause Is “Less Than” £60M

Manchester United will be able to sign Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise for “less than” £60m next summer, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Speaking on the United Stand YouTube channel, the journalist said that previous reports, which placed the buyout fee between £60m and £70m, have put the figure too high, and that will give the likes of the Red Devils and Chelsea encouragement to pursue the Frenchman’s signature:

“I think it is not £60m or £70m. I think it can be less than this… There are many clubs interested in this boy. I’m sure Chelsea will still be there.”

“I’m sure that for, Man United, it will be an opportunity they will consider because it’s obviously a big opportunity when a player has a release clause.”

There are at least 3 Premier League clubs pursuing Olise

Romano also confirmed that Arsenal are “scouting” the 22-year-old so it is expected to be a fierce battle for the player’s signature at the end of the season.

United are clearly going to be in the market for a winger. Jadon Sancho is not part of Erik ten Hag’s future plans and Antony has struggled with his form during his second season at Old Trafford.

Are United the favourites to sign the player?

There have been some claims in recent days that Olise would prefer a move to United, as he was a supporter of the Manchester club growing up.

However, Romano has played down those rumours, suggesting that the France Under 21 international has no preference as to which team he joins at this stage. That may change in the future but, for now, it is very much a three team battle for his services.
