‘A Ball Playing CB Finally’ ‘Another Mid Player’ Fans React As United Scout 26 Year Old Defender

Manchester United are keeping tabs on Wolves centre-back Max Kilman, according to The Times.

The 26-year-old has been scouted by the Red Devils on “more than one occasion” and he is being considered as an option to strengthen the defence ahead of the summer transfer window.

Fans on X are rather split on whether Erik ten Hag’s side should be targeting Kilman, with some questioning whether he has the ability to play for the club:

Why are United pursuing Kilman?

Raphael Varane is expected to leave Old Trafford when his contract expires at the end of the season, so recruiting a replacement will be one of the club’s top priorities.

Kilman is also left-footed which means he would provide cover for Lisandro Martinez, whose second season at the club has been blighted by injury.

Are other centre-halves being looked at?

United’s recruitment team have cast their net pretty wide as they seek solutions for the club’s problems at the back. Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite and Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo are two other Premier League players who have been looked at.

In terms of options abroad, it is believed that the likes of Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo and Benfica’s Antonio Silva are also still on United’s radar. The Times have confirmed, though, that Kilman has made the “shortlist” but it remains to be seen if he is the no.1 target.
