Manchester United transfer target Mathys Tel is “seriously thinking” about leaving Bayern Munich, according to Sport Bild.

The German magazine claims the Frenchman has had a change of heart after previously blocking “all attempts” from other clubs to sign him.

Tel is someone who is of interest to the Red Devils, with highly respected journalist Florian Plettenberg having linked the 18-year-old with a switch to Old Trafford earlier this week.

Plettenberg did, however, suggest that the forward was focused on playing for Bayern but Sport Bild believe “something has changed” in his transfer stance.

Tel’s agent has already dropped a hint about the player’s future

The teenager’s representative Gadiri Camara spoke about the player’s situation recently, stating a transfer is not completely off the table:

“Sometimes you just have to have the feeling that you are on the same path. We’ll see very soon, but I’m confident. But if not, we have to consider all options because Mathys knows that he is valuable and will be a top player.”

Since moving to Bayern from Rennes for €28.5m in the summer of 2022, Tel has started just six games, which does suggest that the winger may well be getting impatient about his lack of game time.

Will United have competition for Tel?

A move to the Premier League is said to “appeal” to the France Under 21 international, which may have prompted United’s interest in the first place. That openness to making the switch will also attract other Premier League clubs.

Sport Bild report that Arsenal are likely to be one of the English teams who will consider making a move for Tel if he does signal that he wants to leave Bayern this summer.

For now, the player’s future is still up in the air but there is expected to be more clarity the closer we get to the end of the season.
