Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen are both being targeted by Paris Saint-Germain, according to 90min.com.

The website claims that the pair are “leading names” as the club seek a replacement for Kylian Mbappe, who could leave on a free transfer this summer.

Rashford has been linked with a switch to PSG before, when it was reported in the summer of 2022 that his representatives had held talks with the Ligue One champions.

Since then, Rashford has signed a new contract but he has had his difficulties on the pitch this season, prompting speculation that he may look to leave Old Trafford.

There is no indication at this stage that the England international would force a move away from the Red Devils but there is some uncertainty around the club following the arrival of INEOS as minority stakeholders.

United’s recruitment strategy is set to change

It is believed that INEOS are keen on appointing a new sporting director to oversee the club’s transfer business. There is likely to be a switch towards signing young players on lower wages.

With Rashford one of the club’s highest earners at £300,000 a week, he could come under scrutiny if his performances don’t dramatically improve between now and May.

Rashford is unlikely to be PSG’s No.1 target

If Mbappe does leave, it is believed that the French club would seek to recruit a new No.9; that is not a position Rashford is comfortable playing in.

Therefore, you would think that PSG would prioritise a move for Osimhen instead. The Nigerian international has also been heavily linked with Chelsea and Arsenal but he has a €130m (£111m) release clause.

That is not a fee that would scare off PSG and, considering Rashford wouldn’t cost much less, there is a good chance that a bid for Osimhen would be favoured.
