Manchester United have held “more talks” about a deal to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte, according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg.
Taking to X, Plettenberg said that, although no “final decision” has been made on whether to make a formal bid, discussions are ongoing about a potential transfer to Old Trafford:
🚨🔴 Understand that Manchester United are still there for Manuel #Ugarte!
… as the 23 y/o is still a transfer candidate for #MUFC in central midfield!

It has already been confirmed that Ugarte is open to joining the Red Devils, so it’s likely that talks with his agent are being held to hash out personal terms before going ahead with an offer.
How much will Ugarte cost?
The Uruguayan international moved to the Parc des Princes from Sporting Lisbon for €60m (£50m) last summer, and PSG are hoping to recoup their investment.
Whether the Ligue One champions will be able to hold out for that much may depend on how many suitors there are for Ugarte. It has been claimed that Arsenal and Liverpool have also been offered the player but United are currently the only team actively pursuing his signature.
United are stepping up their transfer activity
The news about Ugarte comes hot off the back of confirmation that Joshua Zirkzee has signed from Bologna. The Red Devils have paid more than the Dutchman’s release clause, shelling out €42.5m (£35.7m) so that the fee is handed over in instalments rather than in one lump sum.
Zirkzee is the first senior player to be brought in but the club remain active in the market. In addition to Ugarte, they are currently in negotiations to sign Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt and Lille’s Leny Yoro.
