Romano Confirms That United And Chelsea Are Scouting South American Wonderkid With £43M Release Clause

Manchester United and Chelsea are keeping tabs on Flamengo attacking midfielder Lorran, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The journalist claims that both clubs have recently sent scouts to watch the 17-year-old in action:

As Romano mentions, Lorran’s release clause is pretty steep at €50m (£43m) and, considering the teenager’s lack of experience, it would be a surprise if any team paid that much for him.

Who is Lorran?

The Brazilian made his senior debut for Flamengo in the Rio de Janeiro State Championships at the start of this year, coming on as a substitute in the 1-0 win over Audax-RJ.

Lorran scored his first goal when he was handed his first start a couple of weeks later against Bangu-RJ, before making appearances in two further matches versus Resende and Botafogo.

However, he hasn’t played for Flamengo’s senior side since February. In the Brazilian Serie A, the midfielder has been an unused substitute on a couple of occasions, while he also made the bench for the Copa do Brasil final first leg against Sao Paulo earlier this month.

Lorran’s form at youth level has attracted the attention of United and other clubs

While the youngster has only limited exposure at senior level, he would have caught the eye when playing for youth teams for both club and country.

Lorran was a regular starter in the knockout stages as Flamengo won the Brazilian Under 20 Championships at the start of this month.

Back in April, the midfielder also stood out as Brazil won the South American Under 17 Championships, winning 7 out of 9 matches at the tournament.
