Journalist Names United As One Of 3 PL Clubs Holding “Increasingly Concrete Discussions” To Sign French Wonderkid

Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool are making a concerted effort to sign Lille defender Leny Yoro, according to journalist Alexis Bernard.

The Le10 Sport reporter claims that the 3 Premier League clubs have had “increasingly concrete discussions” with both the player and his club ahead of the January transfer window:

Yoro has been a regular starter for Lille this season, despite the fact that he is still only 18 years of age.

The France Under 21 international is tipped to have a big future in the game, and his performances are attracting the attention of many scouts.

More Premier League teams could enter the battle for Yoro

In addition to those clubs already mentioned by Bernard, reports in the UK have also credited the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and West Ham with an interest in the teenager.

It means that if United do go ahead with a formal bid for Yoro next month, they may have a fight on their hands to secure his services.

United are keen to bring in a centre-back

Another journalist, Fabrizio Romano, has asserted for a number of months that the Red Devils have made signing a defender a top priority for January, with manager Erik ten Hag said to be unhappy with the current options at his disposal.

Romano has named Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba, Benfica’s Antonio Silva, Sporting Lisbon’s Goncalo Inacio and Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo as the four other centre-half targets that United may consider pursuing.

Whether Yoro has become the main priority after impressing for Lille in Ligue One this season, or whether he is just another player on United’s shortlist, we shall have to wait and see.
