“Quality Players” – Saha Backs United To Make Double Raid On European Giants But Issues Mason Mount Warning

Ex-Manchester United striker Louis Saha says his former club should consider signing Bayern Munich pair Joshua Kimmich and Alphonso Davies.

Both players will have twelve months left on their contracts this summer and, speaking to Betfred (via StrettyNews.com), Saha said the duo would add experience to Erik ten Hag’s squad:

“They are two extremely experienced players, especially Kimmich. Kimmich would obviously be a great fit because he’s one of the fittest players in Europe and is capable of running games and is very slick. He and Davies are both quality players, there’s no doubting that.”

While Saha says that he agrees with the policy of recruiting soon-to-be out-of-contract players, he pointed to the example of Mason Mount to warn that such signings don’t always pay off:

“Going for players with one year remaining on their contract is a smart strategy, but sometimes it doesn’t work out. At this moment, Mason Mount has’t been a success at Manchester United, so ultimately it’s dependent on the character of the players, their suitability to the Premier League, the style of the team and many other factors.”

“Other teams will be interested in these players if their contracts are running down, so it won’t be easy for Manchester United to pull off any of these signings.”

Do United have a realistic chance of signing Kimmich or Davies?

Although both players could be available for relatively low prices due to their contract situations, it will also mean that they will attract interest from other clubs.

Kimmich has been linked with both Manchester City and Liverpool, while Davies is known to be on the radar of Real Madrid and Chelsea.

For United to stand any chance of securing their signatures, you would think that they will need to qualify for the Champions League. After last weekend’s win over Aston Villa, that has become a more realistic possibility.
