Report Reveals United Player ‘Knocked Back’ Club’s Attempts To Sell Him For £65M

Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho and his agents “knocked back” approaches to leave Old Trafford in recent weeks, according to The Athletic.

The falling out between the 23-year-old and manager Erik ten Hag had led to the Red Devils placing a £65m asking price on the player.

Earlier this month, when the transfer window was still open in Saudi Arabia, there were suggestions that United would allow Sancho to make the switch to the Middle East, but the forward seemingly had no interest in making the move.

The Athletic report that the England international “never gave any indication” that he was prepared to switch teams.

Tension between ten Hag and Sancho has been a longstanding issue

The player has reportedly been late for training on multiple occasions and, despite, attempts to remedy the situation, ten Hag has been constantly frustrated with Sancho’s lack of punctuality.

That ultimately led to ten Hag’s decision to drop him from the squad for the Arsenal game and to make a public statement on the winger’s poor performances in training.

There are signs that relations have thawed following a meeting

It was reported that ten Hag and Sancho had showdown talks on Monday to resolve their differences. Sancho’s decision to delete a post on X criticising his manager is an indication that some progress was made at that meeting.

However, there are still believed to be issues between the club’s highest earner and his manager. Ten Hag may want some additional promises from Sancho about improvements in his timekeeping and general attitude.

The United boss will surely be asked about the situation at his pre-match press conference ahead of the Brighton fixture this weekend. We may get an answer on whether Sancho will be included in the squad for the game.
