Manchester United will “consider” loaning out former captain Harry Maguire to Chelsea, according to 90min.com.

After the news that Wesley Fofana has undergone surgery on an anterior cruciate ligament injury, Mauricio Pochettino’s have been considering potential replacements and 90min claim that they have already made “enquiries” about Maguire’s situation

It is believed that, while United would prefer to sell Maguire outright, there is a possibility that a loan switch to Stamford Bridge would be sanctioned.

The main reason for that is, unlike other teams, the Blues would be able to cover the 30-year-old’s salary in full. According to Capology, he is currently earning £190,000 a week at Old Trafford.

Are other teams interested in Maguire?

West Ham have reportedly already had a request to loan the England international knocked back in recent days, but they may return with another offer at some point.

Newcastle are also said to be weighing up a move for Maguire, along with Italian clubs Inter and Juventus. If one of these teams were prepared to buy the player then it would be preferable to sending him out on a temporary basis to a Premier League rival like Chelsea.

It has been suggested that United would want anything between £30m and £40m to sell the centre-back before the transfer window closes

Do United have a replacement lined up?

Monaco’s Axel Disasi appears to be the preferred target for manager Erik ten Hag, with it being claimed that the Red Devils have been in touch with his agent.

The France international won’t be available on the cheap, though, with reports in the French media indicating that his asking price could be as high as €50m (£43m).

With that being the case, United may have to sell Maguire, plus another player, if they want to secure Disasi’s signature this summer.
