United Are Plotting £65M Move For Jadon Sancho ‘Upgrade’ Who Has Also Been Linked With Arsenal

Manchester United are weighing up whether to make a bid for Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby, according to the Daily Mail.

Although the Frenchman is not deemed a priority target at this stage, there are concerns about Jadon Sancho’s form and it is believed that the Red Devils may consider signing an “upgrade”.

Diaby had a good season for Leverkusen, scoring 14 goals and providing 11 assists, but the Bundesliga club are said to be only willing to sell the player if they receive an offer in the region of £65m.

The winger does generally prefer to play off the right wing, which would put him in direct competition with Antony, rather than Sancho, but it’s clear that United are seriously considering whether to reinforce their options out wide.

There are likely to be rivals for Diaby

Both Arsenal and Newcastle have been heavily linked with the 23-year-old over the past year, with the latter reportedly having entered formal negotiations with Leverkusen last summer.

Diaby’s price tag has, though, put off potential suitors previously and, if United are not prioritising the signing of a new winger, it would be a surprise if they are willing to shell out £65m.

Sancho’s future at Old Trafford

Any new addition is likely to be dependent on what manager Erik ten Hag decides to do with Sancho. It has been suggested in recent days that the Red Devils could be willing to sell the 23-year-old after just two seasons at the club.

A £60m asking price has been mentioned, with his former club Borussia Dortmund said to be among the teams interested in signing the England international.

If Sancho is offloaded for that figure, most of that money could then be reinvested in Diaby. For the time being, though, there is no indication that Sancho will be leaving Old Trafford.
