Ten Hag Is ‘Still Interested’ In Signing 15 Goal Dutch Ace Who Has Recently Dismissed United Transfer Links

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is “still interested” in recruiting Ajax forward Brian Brobbey, according to ESPN.

The forward was originally a target for the Red Devils before the Dutchman joined Ajax on a permanent basis from RB Leipzig last year.

At the time, Brobbey decided that a return to his homeland was the right move for his career, despite admitting that he would have earned a lot more money by making the switch to United.

Ten Hag is, however, still determined to land the 21-year-old, who has scored 15 goals in all competitions this season.

ESPN claim that ten Hag sees Brobbey as a potential replacement for Anthony Martial. The Frenchman’s contract expires at the end of the season, so Brobbey is being targeted to give Rasmus Hojlund more support up front.

Will United make a move for Brobbey in January?

It is believed that the Red Devils have limited resources to sign players and, while ten Hag is keen on getting a deal done for Brobbey, the chances of a move going through this month are said to be pretty slim.

From the sound of things, United are much more likely to table a bid in the summer, when the need to replace Martial will become more urgent.

Brobbey has already spoken out about United’s interest

The striker was asked about the possibility of moving to Old Trafford at the weekend and, while he admits that he has had contact with ten Hag in the past, he has not talked to his former manager recently:

“I know nothing about any interest from Manchester United. I read it on the news, but I am staying in Amsterdam.”

“I am not in contact with Erik ten Hag anymore. We used to text through WhatsApp, but I think Erik is busy. I have a new number as well, so…”
