Crystal Palace attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze has turned down a new contract, according to TEAMtalk.

The 25-year-old, who was linked with Manchester United earlier in the summer, has now placed his future at Selhurst Park in doubt.

Eze has two years remaining on his current deal so Palace won’t be forced into selling the playmaker right away, but it will certainly pique the interest of United and other possible suitors.

It is believed that the England international was considered as a potential alternative to Mason Mount, before the midfielder was signed from Chelsea.

Whether Eze remains on Erik ten Hag’s list of transfer targets, it is not known, but there is a good chance he could now leave the Eagles.

The midfielder’s form would have caught the eye of United

Eze had a standout season for Palace in the Premier League, scoring 1o goals and contributing 4 assists in 38 appearances.

He was rewarded with his first England cap back in June, coming on during the second half of the European Championship qualifier against Malta.

Eze is highly rated by Ferdinand

Speaking about the player in April, United legend Rio Ferdinand was fulsome in his praise, stating that Eze is extremely composed in possession:

“Smooth. If you’re talking about one of the smoothest ballers in the game, in the Premier League right now, Eze’s up there. Mad player. He’s playing like he’s in the cage. Just smooth, man. He doesn’t seem fazed either. Every situation you put him in, he’s just calm.”

“And he’s in that position where he turns and faces up midfielders or defenders; he can go past people, slip people in and finish. He’d be good at Arsenal, you know. In the [Granit] Xhaka position. Another year.”

With Arsenal having recently recruited Kai Havertz from Chelsea to be Xhaka’s replacement, you can’t see Eze moving to the Emirates. In terms of a switch toUnited, we shall have to wait and see.
