United Told To Pay £35M For De Gea Replacement With Ten Hag Keen To Link Up With Former Player

Manchester United have stepped up their interest in Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana, according to the Corriere Dello Sport (via FCInter1908.it).

The Italian newspaper claims that manager Erik ten Hag is a big fan of the Cameroon international, having worked with him at his previous club Ajax.

It is believed that ten Hag is keen to have a goalkeeper like Onana who is stronger with the ball at his feet and it could lead to De Gea’s departure from the club this summer.

Reports have suggested that the Spaniard has rejected a new contract that would keep him at the club beyond the end of the season.

Even if De Gea stays, though, the Corriere Dello Sport claim it doesn’t rule out Onana joining United, with ten Hag happy to have two keepers competing for the number one spot.

Onana is still unlikely to be available on the cheap. Chelsea have also been credited with an interest in the player and Inter are expected to demand at least €40m (£35m).
