United Told To Offer 34M And Alex Telles To Clinch Deal For Portuguese Teenage Sensation

Manchester United could use Alex Telles in their bid to sign Sporting Lisbon left-back Nuno Mendes, according to Record.

The Portuguese tabloid claim the Red Devils are interested in signing the 18-year-old but Sporting are demanding that they pay “at least” €40m (£34m), plus Telles on a long-term loan deal.

Mendes has been linked with a whole host of clubs in England since he made his senior debut last summer. Manchester City are thought to be very keen on the teenager to strengthen their options on the left-hand side, while both Liverpool and Arsenal have also been linked.

The fullback does have a €70m (£59.5m) release clause but it appears Sporting are willing to let the player leave for below that amount if they can get Telles in exchange.

The Brazilian international only arrived from Porto for £15.4m in October but he has struggled to get ahead of Luke Shaw in the pecking order at left-back.
