United Told They Will Have To Pay Above 87M If They Want To Snap Up Portuguese Speedster

AC Milan will demand in excess of €100m (£87m) for Rafael Leao even if he doesn’t sign a new contract with the Serie A champions, according to reports in the Italian media.

Manchester United are said to be interested in the pacey winger, along with the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain, with the player’s current deal set to expire in 2024.

Leao does have a €150m (£130.6m) release clause but the fact that the player’s contract is running down means Milan can’t hope to demand that figure in a future transfer window.

Talks over an extension have been taking place, although there are still a number of factors stopping an agreement being reached between the Portuguese international and his club.

United are keen to strengthen their forward options and, if they manage to land Leao, he would offer competition for Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford on the left flank.
