United To Add South-American Talent?

Good news for Manchester United who, according to the Daily Star, will be able to sign Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez. The Colombian who is clearly out of favour with the Spanish club’s management, is reportedly being given the green light to leave this summer. Even though he is under contract until 2020, the 24-year-old will not say no to a move, especially if the request is coming from United. Currently, out of all the transfer rumors, this one would be in the top three pieces of news that should come true. Rodriguez looks like the missing piece from a lot with enormous potential. Rooney, as hard working and talented as he is, could do with a back-up to share the role of an orchestrator. Real Madrid’s midfielder could be that player though, despite the rough times he is going through right now. While playing for Colombia, he showed immense talent. Given the proper environment, he will surely turn into a star-quality footballer.

Currently, United do not have someone to provide the right assists to Martial, Rashford and the others up front. There’s no Ozil or Fabregas to open up the adversary’s defense or to destabilize the opponents’ midfield. Mata undoubtedly can do the job but for some reaso n LVG thinks he is more of a winger or a second striker. The same goes for Herrera who is a bit more defensive than you would like from a player featured behind the attacking line. Honestly, Manchester United would get a lot from swapping Mata with Rodriguez. The Spaniard has a high market value and would probably love to return to Spain. His contract is set to expire in two years which would add to his price tag which is currently half of what James is worth. With Lingard in good form and with rumors of Griezmann (who can play on the right) growing, United should push for Real Madrid’s Colombian midfielder.

Aside from him, it looks like the Devils might also target 19-year-old Luiz Araujo who is the star of Sao Paulo’s U20 team. There is little info regarding this young Brazilian but there is much interest coming from United regarding his future. Scouts have been monitoring him since last year and have been present in the stands during his last two games. Next to Rashford and Rooney, he could be the perfect option. Cheap, young, promising and quite spectacular, he could add quality to a very young Manchester United lot. Despite all the criticism directed towards LVG, you got to give him credit for having such a good eye when it comes to young talent and how to integrate them into the United side.
