United Tipped To Make ‘Shock Swoop’ For 55M La Liga Ace Who Snubbed Chelsea And Arsenal Last Summer

Manchester United could make a “shock swoop” for Barcelona forward Raphinha before tonight’s transfer deadline, according to The Mirror‘s Jeremy Cross.

The Brazilian international only moved to Spain from Leeds for £55m last summer, having turned down moves to Chelsea and Arsenal to secure his switch to the Camp Nou.

However, Barca are keen on securing the services of Manchester City’s Ilkay Gundogan this month, and the La Liga club may consider offloading Raphinha to free up funds.

United boss Erik ten Hag has left the door open to signing another player before the window closes, although it would be a surprise if Raphinha comes under consideration.

He is a left-footed winger, who prefers playing off the right wing. Considering the Red Devils already have an almost identical player in Antony, who they paid £86m for, it seems unlikely that ten Hag’s side will pursue Raphinha’s signature. Stranger things have happened but fans shouldn’t hold their breath.
