Manchester United are interested in signing Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni, according to reports in the Italian media.
The 23-year-old has less than two years remaining on his contract at the Nerazzurri and, while the Serie A club are expected to offer an extension soon, United could make a move if his situation isn’t sorted out by January.
They will face competition for Bastoni’s signature, though, with Manchester City and Tottenham also believed to be keeping tabs on the Italian international
The centre-back’s asking price is reportedly around the €60m (£54m) mark, which is unlikely to put off any major suitors, but getting approval from the player may be the biggest challenge.
Bastoni is said to be happy at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza and it may take a complete breakdown in contract talks for him to be persuaded to leave.
There are also question marks over whether United would sanction another transfer for a centre-half, considering they recently shelled out close to £57m on Lisandro Martinez.
