United ‘Tempted’ To Snap Up Bundesliga Stopper This Month To Steal A March On Liverpool And Chelsea

Manchester United are “tempted” to make a move for RB Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano this month, according to the Mirror.

Both Liverpool and Chelsea are also reportedly interested in the France international, but neither are believed to be ready to table a bid for the defender before the January transfer window closes.

With that being the case, United may look to beat their rivals to the punch, with there likely to be a whole host of interested clubs in the summer when Upamecano’s €42m (£38m) comes into effect.

The Mirror claim that the Red Devils actually tried to sign the 22-year-old at the start of this season but the move was scuppered by the player’s father, who started to make additional demands, which put them off from completing the transfer.

Whether those issues have been resolved, it remains to be seen but, considering United’s current position in the Premier League table, this may be the perfect time to seal the deal for Upamecano.
