United Target Reveals Premier League Interest But Insists He is Happy To Stay In Italy

AC Milan centre-back Alessio Romagnoli has declared that he is happy to stay at the Rossoneri despite being aware of interest from the Premier League.

It was reported last week that Manchester United were lining up a move for the Italian international, along with Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar.

Romagnoli signed a four-year contract extension in June, and revealed he opted to remain at the San Siro rather than move to England:

“The renewal? A logical choice. I am fine with my teammates, with Gattuso, with the fans. There were offers from the Premier League, but I feel at home here.”

“I debuted against Milan in Serie A. Maybe it was my destiny. I like Milan, I only miss the sea of Neptune, maybe I will hang a picture of it in my room.”

Whether he’ll reconsider his future if United come calling in the January transfer window, it remains to be seen. Milan are already twelve points off the pace in Serie A, sitting tenth in the table, and their ownership situation remains unstable.

Elliott Management took over the running of the club from Li Yonghong in the summer after the Chinese owner defaulted on a loan from the hedge fund.

The American company invested €50m to stabilise the club’s finances, but it’s not certain how they’ll deal with a large offer for one of their star players.
