United Table 51K A Week Contract Offer For Serie A Star With Solskjaer ‘Keen’ To Secure January Deal

Manchester United have offered to pay only a percentage of Christian Eriksen’s wages as part of their proposal to sign the Inter Milan midfielder on loan for the rest of the season, according to journalist Ian McGarry.

The playmaker is currently earning €8m a year (£136,000 a week) at the San Siro, but the Red Devils are only willing to pay 37.5% of his weekly wage, which would work out at around £51,000 a week. McGarry claims United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is interested in taking the player in order to strengthen the club’s title challenge:

“[Ole Gunnar] Solskjaer is keen on the idea. He is looking for a central midfielder to assist in United’s challenge for the Premier League title.”

It is believed there would be no option to buy but, over the course of a six-month loan, it would cost United around €1.5m (£1.33m) in total which, for a player of Eriksen’s quality, is not a bad deal. Such a proposal would have been knocked back in the past but, with Inter keen to offload the Danish international, it could well be considered.

The 28-year-old has failed to establish himself in Serie A, and he has reportedly been offered to the likes of Arsenal and former club Tottenham.
