Manchester United stars Chris Smalling, Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera have been making a splash in Dubai by practising their diving techniques.

And no, not the ‘minimal contact but go down like you’ve been shot like a sniper in the penalty area’ kind of diving – but instead the Olympic water sport.

Jose Mourinho’s men have been taking some much needed down time in the Middle East after a tough and extremely busy Christmas period – United played 11 games between the start of December and January 5th.

And the United trio decided to spend their brief sabbatical by poking fun at football’s ultimate sin.

Chris Smalling took to Twitter on Wednesday to post a video of himself and his two team-mates diving from a high board – with the caption ‘Diving in the modern game is a disgrace!’, alongside a laughing emoji.

In the video, Luke Shaw can be seen taking the plunge first, before Herrera and finally Smalling follow, jumping feet first into the depths below.
