United Star Turns Down ‘Super Offer’ Worth 346K A Week To Leave Old Trafford

Manchester United attacking midfielder Juan Mata has turned down a “super offer” from a Saudi Arabian club, according to AS.

The Spanish publication reports that the 32-year-old initially rejected a €16m (£14.5m) a year deal before the same team returned with a €20m (£18m) a year offer, which was also knocked back by the player.

That second improved contract proposal was equivalent to around £346,000 a week; a sizeable increase on Mata’s current salary. However, the Spaniard insists he is happy to stay at Old Trafford and continue playing for the Red Devils.

The former Chelsea star does not believe he is done playing at the highest level and is hopeful that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side can still have a successful season despite recent setbacks.

It is an extraordinary demonstration of loyalty to the club, considering he is no longer a regular starter for United. Mata has not featured in the Premier League so far but has played in both rounds of the Carabao Cup.
