United Star Breaks Collarbone

Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez is set to miss the start of pre-season training after suffering a suspected broken collarbone playing for Mexico against Honduras.

Chicarito, who spent all of last season on loan at Real Madrid, sustained the injury during a warm-up game for the Gold Cup tournament.

Hernandez has scored 59 goals in 154 games for United, but has been rumoured to be leaving the club all summer long, something which seems inevitable. Where the striker will end up remains to be seen, but many are convinced he still has a place in the Premier League.

Mexico coach Miguel Herrera said the results of Hernandez’s injury were not yet known but suggested it would see Hernandez out of the team of the rest of the tournament:

“It will have an impact on the group but we’re just thinking about what is ahead. This is an unfortunate situation we cannot change.” Via BBC Sport

The Mexico team doctor also commented on the situation:

“The fracture of the right collarbone has been confirmed clinically,” said Mexico team doctor Gerardo Aguilar after the game.

“He’s being re-evaluated in hospital to confirm what we observed in a radiological study.”

“[He’ll be out] for three to four weeks minimum.” Via ESPN
