United Set To Sign Striker

Manchester United could be set to sign Anderlecht striker Aleksandar Mitrovic. The 20-year-old is one of the hottest prospects in Europe and his performances for the Belgian club has prompted big interest in the youngster.

The forward has also represented his country, Serbia, at international level and is a regular starter for the side. He is best known for his eye for goal and has scored 20 goals for his club this season, which includes his goal against Arsenal in the Champions League.

The Serbian has been watched by a whole host of clubs, including Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Newcastle. However Manchester United are apparently the favourites to land the starlet.

Mitrovic is very highly rated and it’s reported that the fee to sign the player could be in the region of £15 million.

It had been reported that Newcastle were set to seal the players signature after agreeing a fee with Anderlecht, but now it seems he could be off to Manchester over the summer.

Manchester United have been widely linked with a striker, with questions over the ageing Robin van Persie, and Radamel Falcao’s time with the Red Devils surely coming to an end. Louis van Gaal seems keen to add youth to United, and the 20-year-old certainly doesn’t act his age when in front of goal.

Since the player joined Anderlecht in 2013, he has scored 33 goals in 55 games for the club, which is a remarkable achievement for such a young player. As previously mentioned, his performances have merited several international call-ups. Mitrovic currently has 11 international caps to his name.

It’s not certain if United are close to agreeing a fee with the club, or indeed the player. But it’s clear that a player of this calibre will be well suited to United, and at such a young age, surely the best is still yet to come.
