United Set To Press Ahead With 40M Bid For Eredivisie Star Who Simply “Has Everything”

Manchester United’s plans to sign PSV Eindhoven winger Cody Gakpo are expected to be “pushed forwards”, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The former Eurosport columnist claims that the Eredivisie star could be signed for around £40m when the transfer window reopens next month:

“Gakpo is going to be pushed forwards now and there is actually hope they could land him for around the £40 million mark, from what I’m hearing.”

A number of other Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Liverpool, have also been linked with Gakpo but United have always been seen as the favourites to secure his signature after initially making contact about signing him in the summer.

The 23-year-old has been in outstanding form for club and country this season. He has scored 13 goals in all competitions for PSV, whilst bagging another three for the Netherlands at the World Cup. His potential has been known for quite some time. Last year, former Dutch international Theo Janssen tipped the forward for great things:

“That boy (Gakpo) has everything. Fine feeling for the ball, a good through ball, dribbles and is strong between the lines. I really enjoy him. He is going to be an important player for the Dutch squad.”

Janssen’s remarks about Gakpo have certainly proven to be accurate and United are seemingly poised to make their move for a talented young player.
