Barcelona right-back Marc Jurado will join Manchester United for the start of next season, according to Sport. The Red Devils are expected to pay €1.5m (£1.3m) in compensation for the 16-year-old.

The defender had been offered a new contract by Barca and there had been several weeks of negotiations as the Catalan club tried to keep the player.

However, Sport claim that they were informed of Jurado’s decision to move to Old Trafford at the start of this week, after failing to come to an agreement over a new contract with his current team.

It is believed the fullback will start with United’s Under 23s, although it is likely that he’ll also participate in Under 18s football.

Jurado will then be promoted into the senior squad if he is deemed ready to do so. He will face fierce competition for a spot at right-back, though, with the two options that manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer currently has at his disposal, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot, both young themselves.
