Manchester United are interested in signing Barcelona fullback Nelson Semedo, according to Sport. The Portuguese international, who has been linked with a move rivals Manchester City, will be available for transfer this summer.

The fullback wants to be undisputed first choice for Barca at right-back, but the presence of Sergi Roberto means that won’t be possible.

With that being the case, the La Liga side have decided to let Semedo leave, with all offers being handed over to his agent Jorge Mendes in order for a sale to go ahead.

Barcelona are keen to bankroll moves for Neymar and Lautaro Martinez and they are willing to take a hit on Semedo’s price in order to offload him when the transfer window reopens.

The 26-year-old currently has a €100m (£88m) release clause but Barca accept he will be sold for a lot less, with the global health crisis having had a serious impact on the transfer market.
