United Set To Bid For Right-Back

Manchester United look set to bid for AS Monaco right-back Fabinho. The Brazilian, who’s name is Fábio Henrique Tavares but better known as Fabinho, is one of the most sought after full-backs in the game after a clear display of talent at the tender age of just 21.

United are reported to be readying a bid at around £11 million, but that figure is someway below the valuation that Monaco have rated the youngster. The French side insist they will not accept any offers for their man below £20m.

A right-back is one of Louis van Gaal’s main priorities this summer as the squad currently only possesses one first team right-back in Rafael. Last season saw winger Antonio Valencia play in the full-back position, in order to accommodate the injured Brazilian. Even though the Ecuadorian cemented his position in defence, it is clear LvG has plans to bring in a more natural fit this summer.

Fabinho has spent the last two years on loan at Monaco from Rio Ave, having previously spent some time at Real Madrid. He made his move to Monaco permanent this year, in a transfer worth around £4 million. Now it seems the French side want 5-times more in order to allow the player to leave.

The 21-year-old has impressed for Monaco since he made his debut 2 years ago. The club are reluctant to lose the right-back, but will accept an offer of £20 million, although United will surely try and drive the price down.

Now it is emerging that United will test the water with Monaco and offer £11 million, this is according to reports in France.

Fabinho has two caps for Brazil, and is a well built defender standing at 6ft 2. He would certainly fit in at United, and at such a young age he has plenty of time still to develop.
