United Set To Be Disappointed Over Target

Manchester United target Anderson Talisca is not for sale according to his loan club Besiktas. The Turkish side have insisted that their man is not on his way to Old Trafford with their loan agreement with Benfica still having another 12 months left to run.

The Brazilian is on a two year loan with the Turkish club from Benfica, but has been linked with a move to Old Trafford after a fantastic season in which he scored 17 goals in 33 games. The attacking midfielder has himself stirred rumours of a move after confirming interest from United and admitting that a move would be a dream for any footballer.

“It’s a love that exists, I will not lie,” Talisca told Globoesporte. “It’s a dream, something all players want.

“But it [a move] does not depend on me alone. It depends on Benfica, my representatives, who are dealing with the situation. But soon, soon, they will have the news there.”

“I had a good season and, as I said, his [Mourinho’s] love is old and I like his work as well. I hope everything works out.”

However, his current loan side Besiktas are adamant that any deal for Talisca is not possible due to the Brazilian still having at least another 12 months of his loan remaining. A club official, Umut Guner, told Turkish-Football.com: “There is no deal with Manchester United or anyone else in place.”

“We agreed to a two-year deal with Benfica. The loan did have a clause that he had to activate the option which we did. Talisca will stay at Besiktas on loan for another season.”

“Reports claiming that he can be signed for his £22m release clause are false, he has a deal with us. If a club wants to sign him now they will have to wait another 12 months.”

Manchester United have already signed one Benfica player this summer in Victor Lindelof, whether or not the Portuguese club would allow another player to leave for Old Trafford remains to be seen. Also, despite claims from Besiktas, it is unsure whether or not Talisca’s loan deal has any clause that would allow him to leave within the 2 year period. Finally, does Jose Mourinho really have his eye on another attacking midfielder? United’s team is packed full of incredible talent down the middle, and targets such as James Rodriguez seem much more suited to the club than Anderson Talisca who has only proven his worth over one season in the Turkish league.
