United Scouts Make Trip To See Highly Sought After Portuguese Starlets In Action

Manchester United scouts were in attendance to see two Benfica players play against Braga on Sunday, according to reports in Portugal.

The Red Devils were keeping tabs on defender Ruben Dias and holding midfielder Florentino as Benfica came out emphatic 4-0 winners at the weekend.

Dias is a player who has been watched by United before, and reportedly has an £80m release clause after the 22-year-old signed a contract extension last summer.

Florentino, meanwhile, is a player who hasn’t been in Benfica’s first team very long. The 20-year-old only made his senior debut back in February and has made just 19 appearances.

He would, though, have impressed United scouts during the win against Braga. He won the penalty for Benfica’s opening goal as they cruised to a comfortable away victory.

With Nemanja Matic’s future in doubt and Fred seemingly not part of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first-team plans, another defensive midfielder may well be needed very soon.
