United Revive Bid To Sign Lukaku Replacement

Manchester United have revived their bid to sign Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic, according to the Evening Standard. A move for the Croatian international hit the buffers when Romelu Lukaku’s move to Juventus fell through.

However, the Belgian’s decision to stay away from the club and train with Anderlecht has prompted the Red Devils to sign a replacement before deadline day.

Mandzukic was said to be available for €15m (£13.8m), but we shall have to wait and see whether United can agree a deal before the transfer window shuts tomorrow evening.

In terms of Lukaku, with the switch to the Bianconeri having stalled, the Belgian international’s only viable destination is Inter Milan.

However, the Nerazzurri have failed to match United’s asking price for the player so far. Time is running out for a deal to be finalised and Lukaku’s agent Federico Pastorello is said to be locked in talks with the two clubs in order to come up with a solution.
