United reject outrageous offer from Barcelona for Pogba

Manchester United have reportedly rejected an offer for Paul Pogba from Barcelona of £45m plus defender Yerry Mina and midfielder Andre Gomes.

Pogba has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer, with the player’s agent Mino Raiola desperately trying to get a transfer for his client.

United are unlikely to allow their star man to leave at any cost, with the midfielder still having 3 years on his contract.

The 25-year-old signed for United in 2016 – for a then-world record fee of £93.25m. He has had a fairly good spell at the club, but his form has often been questioned.

With Mourinho often dropping Pogba last season, speculation began to rise about whether or not he would remain at the club, but it is believed that United will not allow him to leave.

However, the Spanish transfer window does not close until August 31, so the Catalan club can continue to try and prise Pogba away for the remainder of the month.

Barcelona’s offer of Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes plus £45m seems like it could be a fairly good deal on the surface, with United wanting to sign a centre-back and needing a replacement in midfield if Pogba left. But Gomes is nowhere near the standard of what United need in order to replace their No.6, and Mina is available for around £30m having been offered to clubs by Barca all summer.
