United ‘Ready’ To Fight Tottenham As Serie A Star Is Made Available For 22.6M

Manchester United and Tottenham are “ready” to make their move for Fiorentina centre-back Nikola Milenkovic, according to La Nazione.

The Italian newspaper claims the Viola are prepared to sell the Serbian international for just €25m (£22.6m) with the defender refusing to sign a new contract with the Serie A club.

Milenkovic’s current deal expires in 2022 and, combined with the drop in transfer prices amid the global health crisis, Fiorentina are willing to accept a relatively modest fee for the 23-year-old despite him being one of their key players.

United have been tracking the centre-half for a number of years. In fact, La Nazione report that it was Jose Mourinho who was the one who asked the Red Devils to sign the Serbian when he was still the manager at Old Trafford. That is why Spurs are also now involved in the race for the defender.

Recruiting another centre-back in January could well be considered by United, considering their poor defensive record this season, and Milenkovic’s low price tag would certainly make him an attractive option.
