Manchester United are prepared to “fight” to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland next summer, according to AS (via Sport Witness).

The Madrid-based publication claims that the Red Devils will try to snap up the Norwegian international when his €75m (£63.65m) release clause comes into effect at the end of the season, along with a number of other teams.

However, Real Madrid may try to avoid getting involved in a scrap for Haaland’s signature by putting an offer on the table now before the transfer window closes later this month.

The La Liga club will only make a move if it becomes clear that Kylian Mbappe is staying at Paris Saint-Germain but they are said to be confident of signing Haaland due to their good relations with Dortmund’s board.

It must be said, though, that another team (Chelsea) have tried and failed to get a deal over the line for Haaland in recent weeks. With Dortmund demanding around €175m (£148.5m) for the 21-year-old, it seems quite far-fetched to suggest that Real could afford him.
