United Ready £150m Bid For Real Madrid Duo

Manchester United are said to be readying a £150 million offer for Real Madrid duo Gareth Bale and Raphael Varane.

The news comes after Real Madrid announced Rafa Benitez as their new manager, following Carlo Ancelotti’s sacking. Unsurprisingly, the Spanish giants are very keen on United goalkeeper David De Gea, and even though no even though they are yet to make a formal offer for the Spaniard. The move for the 24-year-old is said to be inevitable, with De Gea having set his heart on leaving United for Los Blancos. Madrid’s interest in De Gea could play a big part in how well Manchester United succeed in their attempts to pick up Bale and Varane.

It is widely reported across Spain that United have already approached Madrid and enquired about Bale and Varane, however it seems the club were unwilling to sell the duo. If reports of a £150 million bid are true, then Madrid may well be unable to resist.

Varane has been a target of Manchester United’s for some time, it is unlikely Madrid will want to sell one of their prized assets, but everyone has their price. The same goes for Gareth Bale, who was targeted by United when he was at Spurs. £150 million is a huge sum, it would probably see Bale break his own record fee. Whether these reports have any real substance is questionable, but it’s obvious United are interested in the duo.

Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo was the source to break the news about United’s apparent bid, but they were also quick to point out that the offer was declined immediately by Real Madrid, and that United would now wait until they were approached over De Gea before reviving their interest.
