Manchester United are “preparing” an offer worth €70m (£64m) for Valencia right-winger Ferran Torres, according to Fichajes.net.
The Spanish website claims that the Red Devils are leading the race for the 20-year-old, ahead of Manchester City and Liverpool, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can guarantee him first-team football.
Torres has one year remaining on his contract at the Mestalla, and while he does have a €100m (£91m) release clause, he will be available for a lower amount this summer.
Fichajes.net report that a deal could well be announced closer to the end of the season, although it remains to be seen how accurate their claims are.
It was believed that Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho was United’s primary target for the right-hand side of attack, but if the club do seal a deal for Torres, it would almost certainly rule out a move for the England international.
Whether Torres would be the better choice, it is debatable. The Spanish Under 21 international has scored six goals and contributed seven assists in 40 appearances this campaign.
