Varane And Wan-Bissaka To Start, Maguire Dropped: United’s Predicted XI To Take On Fulham

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has a massive task on his hands to improve the club’s performances.

Having been humbled by Manchester City at home last weekend, the Red Devils lost to a second-string Newcastle side midweek.

Ten Hag is expected to ring the changes for the Saturday lunchtime kickoff against Fulham. However, Andre Onana will keep his place in goal, despite conceding 6 goals in his last 2 games.

Fit-again Aaron Wan-Bissaka could replace Diogo Dalot, who was extremely poor against the Magpies. With Sergio Reguilon still the only fit left-back, the Spurs loanee will remain in the starting lineup.

Raphael Varane was sidelined for the Newcastle defeat due to illness but he is expected to return to the matchday squad this weekend. The Frenchman could replace Harry Maguire in the team, with Jonny Evans coming in for Victor Lindelof in the centre of defence.

Considering how poor the midfield has been, it’s difficult to guess who ten Hag will select to start at Craven Cottage. Casemiro’s hamstring injury means Sofyan Amrabat may come back into the side.

Christian Eriksen, despite his disappointing display against City, could be recalled, with captain Bruno Fernandes playing as the no.10.

United’s forwards have also been woeful so far this campaign, having scored just 1 goal between them in the Premier League. Ten Hag may, therefore, look to mix things up.

Mason Mount has not been tested as one of the front three, so there is a case for playing him on the right flank instead of the hapless Antony. Rasmus Hojlund could lead the line with Marcus Rashford taking his place on the left wing.
