United Poised To Lose Striker At The End Of The Month As Talks Reach ‘Impasse’

Odion Ighalo is unlikely to have his loan extended at Manchester United beyond May 31st, according to ESPN. The Red Devils are interested in keeping the 30-year-old but negotiations with his parent club Shanghai Shenhua have reached an “impasse.”

The Chinese Super League side are very keen to have the Nigerian international back with them for the start of their new season, which begins next month.

Ighalo, on the other hand, is determined to stay at Old Trafford, having been a supporter of United growing up,  but the decision is not his to make.

With Marcus Rashford poised to return to full fitness following a back problem, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is not overly concerned about Ighalo’s situation.

However, if the Nigerian does have to return to China, it will leave the Manchester club short of options up front if and when he Premier League season resumes. Currently, it is believed fixtures could return on either June 12th or June 19th.
