United Plotting Swoop For 21 Year Old Argentinian International Defender

Manchester United are interested in Lens centre-back Facundo Medina, according to La Voix du Nord. The French newspaper name the Red Devils as one of the clubs who are tracking the 21-year-old.

The defender only moved to France from Argentina in July for €3.6m but he has been part of a defence that has helped Lens climb to midtable following their promotion last season.

Medina has already been given his first cap for Argentina at senior level, having come on for his debut in the World Cup qualifier against Bolivia back in October. He was also an unused substitute in subsequent matches versus Paraguay and Peru in November.

The centre-half is left-footed which, if you have been following rumours over the past year, is a common trend among defenders being linked with United. The likes of Pau Torres, Gabriel, Nathan Ake and Benoit Badiashile all similarly favour their left-hand side.

It seems, therefore, that United are stepping up their search for a potential partner for Harry Maguire but whether they will actually make their move for Medina, we shall have to wait and see.
