United Plotting Summer Swoop For 18 Goal Marksman With £17.5M Buyout Clause

Manchester United have contacted the agents of Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez, according to reports in the Mexican media.

The 21-year-old has been in great form for the Eredivisie league leaders this season, scoring 18 times in all competitions, and it looks as though the Red Devils are weighing up a move for the player this summer.

It was claimed in the English press at the weekend that United, West Ham, Newcastle, Tottenham, Brighton and Brentford had all sent scouts to watch Feyenoord last Wednesday, with Gimenez one of the stars being looked at.

From the looks of things, the Red Devils were specifically interested in seeing the Mexican forward in action. They would have been pleased by what they saw as, despite Feyenoord losing to Ajax in the Dutch Cup, he got on the scoresheet.

Gimenez reportedly has a buyout clause of around €20m (£17.5m) and, with United said to be keen on recruiting a young striker, he could well fit the bill.
