United On Alert As Wan-Bissaka Alternative Is Made Available For £25m

Manchester United could make a move for PSV Eindhoven fullback Denzel Dumfries, according to the Sun.

The Dutch international is believed to be available for just £25m this summer and would present a far more economical option than Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

The Eagles are reportedly demanding £70m for Wan-Bissaka and while United are said to be lining up a third offer for the 21-year-old, scouts have told manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that Dumfries could be a good alternative.

At 23 years of age, he is only two years older than the Palace starlet but has nearly 100 Eredivisie appearances under his belt.

While not the best defensively, Dumfries is a big threat going forward, having scored four and provided seven assists in 43 appearances for PSV last campaign.

In contrast, Wan-Bissaka did not score a goal last season and managed four assists. Much may depend on whether Solskjaer sees the Palace star’s defensive qualities as more important, or if he is prepared to sacrifice that for a more offensive player.
