United On Alert As Dortmund Sporting Director Opens Door For Sancho Departure

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has hinted that Jadon Sancho won’t stay at the Bundesliga club for the long term. When asked about the prospect of keeping the teenager beyond the end of the season, he replied:

“No decision has been made. But you don’t have to be a prophet to know he won’t play here for another five years.”

Manchester United are one of a number of teams who are said to be monitoring the England international’s situation and could look to make a move for the ex-Manchester City player next summer.

Sancho has been in fantastic form so far this campaign, having scored four goals and provided six assists in just nine appearances for Dortmund.

The winger started the 2-2 draw against Werder Bremen on Saturday but was unable to make a telling contribution as Lucien Favre’s side dropped points at home.

Sancho will almost certainly be in the England squad when Gareth Southgate’s side play the Czech Republic and Bulgaria in two Euro 2020 qualifiers next month, and United will no doubt have scouts keeping an eye on the 19-year-old.
